In 1997 Sheriff Terry Ashe established the Sheriff's Educational Assistance Program.  S.E.A.P. is an educational partnership between Cumberland University and the Wilson County Sheriff's Department.  This program utilizes proceeds seized from Drug Dealers to assist P.O.S.T. Certified officers who are seriously interested in obtaining a four year degree in Criminal Justice.
